"Children of Blood and Bone" Author Tomi Adeyemi Left the Set in Tears: "The Worst Thing I've Ever Been Through"
Tomi Adeyemi, the novel's author and one of the film's screenwriters, called the Paramount adaptation "the worst thing I've had to live through in my life" and said, "I don't want to hear about this project again."
Tomi Adeyemi, author of the novel 'Children of Blood and Bone,' posted a five-minute video about the Paramount film adaptation of her book, calling the project "the worst thing I've had to live through in my life." She added, "I don't want to hear about this project again."
Adeyemi, who also co-wrote the film's screenplay, had previously said she wouldn't be watching the adaptation of her novel, set in an African-inspired fantasy world, following her experience on set.
According to the author, she felt shut out of the creative process during filming and left the set in tears after her time there. Adeyemi says the world of her book, which has reached millions of readers, felt alien to her on screen.
Paramount has not commented. The adaptation had been billed as one of the year's most talked-about young-adult fantasy film ventures in the publishing world.
