Marvel and Sadie Sink kept their lips sealed for months, but a two-second glimpse of a mysterious figure in a green jacket in the first trailer, released in March, ignited fan theories. Fans speculated that Sink was playing the powerful mutant Jean Grey, based on her red hair and the classic comic-book-style green costume. When Tom Holland's film opened, the speculation proved correct.

Throughout the press tour leading up to the July 31 release, Sink expertly dodged every question about her role. Director Destin Daniel Cretton explained the secrecy in terms of the audience experience: "You'll understand why we kept what Sadie was doing under wraps once you see the film. The movie is better if you don't know certain things going in."

In 'Brand New Day,' Holland once again dons the Spider-Man suit, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon returning as MJ and Ned. The fourth film following 2021's box office phenomenon 'No Way Home' finds Peter Parker living alone in a world that doesn't remember him — until the pressure of watching his old friends move on without him triggers a dangerous transformation, and a powerful new villain emerges.

Sink told THR last year that she'd been waiting for the day she could talk about her role: "Spider-Man has always been one of my favorites. Going from being a fan of something to becoming part of it is a familiar feeling for me. Plus, I worked with director Destin Daniel Cretton on one of my first films when I was 14 — it's a real full-circle moment."
