Sense and Sensibility Reveals Its New Dashwood Sisters
A new clip spotlights Esmé Creed-Miles’s spirited Marianne in Georgia Oakley’s Jane Austen adaptation, alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones.

A new look at Sense and Sensibility puts the Dashwood sisters back in the spotlight. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles star as Elinor and Marianne in director Georgia Oakley’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, with a screenplay by Diana Reid.
Marianne Speaks Her Mind
The preview centres on a dinner conversation between Marianne and Colonel Brandon, played by Herbert Nordrum. Marianne asks about his interests, but his answers repeatedly put distance between him and the pleasures she raises. Her impatience gives the scene its spark: this is a young woman unwilling to mistake reserve for depth.
That exchange offers a small window into the adaptation’s approach to Austen’s characters. Rather than outlining the entire story, the scene lets personality emerge through conversation, with Marianne’s directness creating tension across the dinner table. It is a preview, not a basis for a full critical verdict on the film.
Austen’s Story of Love and Sisterhood
The Focus Features and Working Title production also stars Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, India Flint and Jo Wallett produce. Its central appeal remains the relationship between two sisters navigating love, uncertainty and the expectations surrounding them.
The preview report listed October 16, 2026 for the theatrical release. The new clip gives Austen readers a concrete introduction to Creed-Miles’s Marianne, while leaving the film’s broader interpretation of Elinor, romance and family to be discovered on screen.
