2026 Emmy Nominations Announced: 'The Pitt' and 'Hacks' Break Records
Nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are out. 'The Pitt' became the most-nominated drama series with 25 nods, while 'Hacks' refreshed the comedy record with 24 nominations in its final season.
The 2026 Primetime Emmy nominations have finally arrived, following a year that bid farewell to major Emmy winners like 'Hacks,' 'Euphoria,' and 'Stranger Things.' This proved to be a tougher year for Emmy predictions; aside from Apple TV's 'Pluribus,' starring Rhea Seehorn, there weren't many new shows that stood out unambiguously to both critics and audiences.
The roughly 24,000-member Television Academy spent much of the year watching hundreds of shows. Contenders for Best Drama included HBO Max's 'The Pitt,' along with past limited/anthology winners and new series like 'Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette' and 'Margo's Got Money Troubles'; nomination voting closed Monday, June 22.
'The Pitt' became the most-nominated drama series with 25 nominations, while another HBO Max heavyweight, 'Hacks,' broke the record for most Emmy nominations for a comedy in a single season with 24 nods in its final season. Apple TV also continued its Emmy growth, picking up three nominations each in both the Drama Series and Comedy Series categories.
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place Monday, September 14. Nominations were announced live from the Wolf Theatre by 'The Bear'*s recent Emmy winner Liza Colón-Zayas and 'Somebody Somewhere'*s Jeff Hiller.
