Marvel Launches Official Countdown To Avengers: Doomsday Podcast Hosted By Iman Vellani
Ms. Marvel herself teams with The Basement Yard's Frank Alvarez to rewatch the MCU's biggest moments in the run-up to Avengers: Doomsday.
MarvelMCU movies are dominating the Disney+ Top 10. Avengers: Endgame is coming back to cinemas. The streets are talking about X-Men, incursions, Secret Wars and Jonathan Hickman comics. All of which can only mean one thing: the countdown to Avengers: Doomsday is officially on.
And, as of today, so is the Countdown To Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast — hosted by Marvel Studios' own Ms. Marvel, the one and only Iman Vellani, alongside The Basement Yard podcaster Frank Alvarez.
It would be easy to write this off as just another piece of marketing, but there is something genuinely appealing about two deeply knowledgeable MCU superfans — one of whom is literally a Young Avenger in waiting — joining forces to recap the franchise's major movies and moments ahead of Doomsday. The first episode, which revisits Avengers Assemble, is full of nerdy tangents, sharp observations and full-on fangirling, and it makes for ideal appointment viewing in the month leading up to the Endgame Encore cinema re-release on 25 September.
It has also been a solid three years since we last saw Vellani in live-action in the MCU, in Nia DaCosta's The Marvels. Hearing one of the biggest Marvel fans on Marvel Studios' own roster geek out is a neat reminder of what her absence has cost us.
With Avengers: Age Of Ultron next on Vellani and Alvarez's agenda, there is plenty more MCU chat to come. The show is available on Disney+, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and effectively every other podcast platform.
