‘Resident Evil Requiem’ Review: Ten Tight Hours of the Series at Its Best
Capcom combines puzzles, horror, action and Leon S. Kennedy into one remarkably disciplined survival horror game.

After years of Resident Evil games that each excelled in one area, Capcom set itself the task of combining the best of all of them. Resident Evil Requiem — puzzles, horror, action and Leon S. Kennedy — not only pulls it off, it does so in about 10 hours.
Players alternate between Leon and newcomer Grace Ashcroft. Grace's sections are slow, tense and genuinely frightening; Leon's deliver the deeply satisfying gunplay of the recent remakes.

No wasted time
Everything in those hours feels necessary: no redundant fetch quests, no dragged-out stealth sequences. Every puzzle, corridor and burst of action is tightly choreographed. Ten hours is actually typical for the series — Resident Evil 7 is about the same, Village and the RE2 remake about 12 — and at $70 the quality never dips.
Minor complaints
Some boss battles are one-note and a few objectives repeat, but these are small blemishes on the most complete Resident Evil in years. It is a must-play for horror fans on PC.
