"House of the Dragon" Gives Us a Great Preview of the New Link Actor
This week's "House of the Dragon" episode introduces Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Prince Daeron Targaryen — the same actor cast to play Link in the upcoming live-action "Legend of Zelda" film. Kotaku's Ash Parrish calls the performance a "good sign" for Link.
The latest episode of HBO's 'House of the Dragon' offers, alongside the escalating conflict between Rhaenyra Targaryen and the Hightower faction, an important preview of the upcoming 'Legend of Zelda' film: Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Prince Daeron Targaryen. Ainsworth was cast to play Link in the joint Nintendo and Sony live-action 'Zelda' film.
Daeron is the youngest son of Queen Alicent and the late King Viserys — known in the books as "Daeron the Daring." Sent away from court as an infant to be raised by his mother's family, the Hightowers, in hopes that he'd grow up untouched by the corruption of his siblings. According to Ash Parrish, Ainsworth's performance is a good sign for a future Link: the child doesn't talk much, carrying his emotions in his face and his gaze instead.
Ainsworth previously appeared in Netflix's 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' and voiced a role in 'Pinocchio.' Parrish writes that she hopes the writers give Link as few lines as possible in the film — because Ainsworth has already proven he can say a lot with very little. The 'Legend of Zelda' film will be released by Sony Pictures in March 2027.
