Ed Harris Says He Was "Misled" About "Dutton Ranch": "Get Me Out of Here"
Oscar nominee Ed Harris revealed he was misled about the importance of his role on Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" spin-off "Dutton Ranch." In an interview with Variety, he admitted that midway through season 1 he told his team to "get him out of there."
Ed Harris has openly voiced his dissatisfaction with his role in Paramount+'s new 'Yellowstone' universe show, 'Dutton Ranch.' Speaking to Variety at the premiere of Apple TV's 'The Dink,' the actor said he joined the project on the promise that he'd be one of its four main characters, but the reality turned out to be very different.
"Before I signed on, I was told at length what the season would be, what my character would do, and that I'd be one of the four leads," says Harris. "But the reality wasn't quite like that." He admits that by the midpoint of season 1, he began telling his team to "get me out of here."
Harris' character, Everett McKinney, was introduced as a mysterious figure who crosses paths with Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly). But according to the actor, the character was reduced to an "insignificant" role as the episodes progressed. There has been no response yet from Taylor Sheridan's camp. Preparations for 'Dutton Ranch' season 2 have been announced at Paramount+, though it remains unclear whether Harris will return.
