"Afterlife With Archie" Series Gets the Green Light at Disney+
The long-in-development Archie Comics adaptation from the "Riverdale" team has finally landed a series order. The show, about a zombie outbreak upending the town of Riverdale, will premiere around Halloween 2027.

Disney+ has greenlit the long-in-development series adaptation of the comic 'Afterlife With Archie.' Starting as a script-to-series commitment in 2025, the project has now converted into a full series order, targeting a release around Halloween 2027.
The comic, launched in 2013 by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla, tells the story of a zombie outbreak in Riverdale that begins when Sabrina Spellman uses dark magic to resurrect Jughead Jones' dead dog, Hot Dog. This dark tone is the most extreme example yet of the Aguirre-Sacasa touch we know from 'Riverdale' and 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.'
The series will be produced by Aguirre-Sacasa and the 'Riverdale' executive producers. Casting has not yet been announced; this darkest branch of the Archie Comics universe is being positioned as part of Disney+'s mature-content strategy.
