HBO Max Brings "Friday the 13th" Prequel "Crystal Lake" to Europe

The A24-produced horror series 'Crystal Lake' is coming to HBO Max across Europe. The show will premiere in the region later this year, while in the US it will air on Peacock in October.

Peacock originally ordered the series in 2022, with Bryan Fuller initially attached as writer and showrunner. However, creative differences led to Fuller's departure in May 2024; Fuller said at the time that A24 had "decided to go in a different direction with the material." Brad Caleb Kane ('It: Welcome to Derry') currently serves as the show's creator, writer, and showrunner.

In 'Crystal Lake,' Emmy nominee Linda Cardellini ('Dead to Me,' 'Mad Men') plays Pamela Voorhees, mother of Jason, the infamous killer from 'Friday the 13th.' The series opens a year after Jason drowned in the lake. The arrival of two strangers investigating Pamela's past sets off a chain of events that leads the residents of Crystal Lake to question who she really was.

William Catlett plays local police chief Levon Brooks; Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom are also in the cast. Callum Vinson plays a young Jason Voorhees. Kane executive produces alongside A24 and a team that includes Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox, and Roy Lee.
