'Great and Weird': An Inside Look at the Final Season Set of MGM+'s 'From'

Something's brewing in the town of MGM+'s 'From' — and it's a secret, kept from almost everyone. When creator John Griffin invited THR reporter Josh Wigler to the set in September 2025, much of season four had already been filmed. Like a seasoned storyteller, Griffin reached back across the gap between seasons and unpacked the traumatic moment from the season three finale: the show's main villain finally revealed himself.

"We had to capture the momentum of where we left off and add a new layer to this story," says Griffin. "And the idea we landed on is this: the Man in Yellow comes to town as a young girl named Sophia, to live among everyone else." Noticing the shock on the reporter's face, he pauses for a moment, then bursts out laughing: "Wait, are you hearing this for the first time?"

The set tour keeps delivering reveals like this. A brown sedan is bolted to the wall of the post office building, as if embedded inside it. Hours later, Griffin explains that one too: "That's the car that brought the devil to town." In a bar scene, the devil himself walks in with a smile: "Hello, I'm Julia."

Lead actors Harold Perrineau and Catalina Sandino Moreno also share thoughts on the final season. Perrineau's Sheriff Boyd Stevens carries the weight of four seasons of tension; for the actor, this ending is also the culmination of the character's reckoning with himself. He sums up the process as "great and weird" — a phrase that captures both the show's tone and the experience of shooting its final season. For 'From' fans: long-awaited answers are on the way — and judging by Griffin's hints, those answers will be at least as strange as the questions themselves.
