The 6 Best New Songs of the Week: Madball, Kim Dracula, Avenged Sevenfold, and More

At Revolver, we're always on the hunt for new songs worth headbanging to. This week we've rounded up tracks pulled from hardcore, metalcore, and gospel-metal fusion that have been on constant repeat in our newsroom.

Avenged Sevenfold – "REJOICE" A metalcore fan from the turn of the century, teleported into the neon-peach pool of R&B, rock, and electronic music that fills the band's new 'STATICA' EP, would never guess it's the same band. "REJOICE" slides into a groove reminiscent of N.E.R.D. at their filthiest, with M. Shadows delivering an autotuned critique of capitalism while Synyster Gates leans into a Pharrell-style falsetto.

Kim Dracula – "Molecular Conversion" A lot happens on the Tasmanian genre alchemist's first solo song since 2023: traces of A Perfect Circle-flavored alt-metal, gospel soul, and King Crimson-esque saxophone screams. Dracula greets the mic with dark thoughts, wild screams, and a glass-shattering operatic wail.

Imminence – "False Light" The Swedish band previewed their upcoming album 'Axis Mundi,' described as a "dialogue between darkness and light, violence and beauty," with two tracks. "False Light" turns beautiful with Eddie Berg's string touches and soft screams, while concrete-footed drums break its spine.

Madball – "Don't MisStep" The single from the new album 'Not Your Kingdom' brings old-school New York toughness to the fore. Opening with the lines "The crown is heavy / You can have it if you want it," the track proves the NYHC heavyweights are still in fighting shape with hardcore speed and a bruising breakdown.

Misery Index – "Feral Future" The first song in four years from the Baltimore death-metal veterans honors the relationship between humanity and the earth. Jason Netherton snarls against the "unconscious, unmoving masses" who blindly follow man-made rules, arguing instead that "the sun, the wind, and the water rule."

Showing Teeth – "Bad Exchanges" "God… it's all bad." The week's bleakest but most searing track closes out the list.
