"Panda" Rapper Desiigner Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge

Rapper Desiigner (real name Sidney Selby III) was arrested Wednesday (July 15) in South Carolina on a second-degree domestic violence charge. According to Horry County Sheriff's Office records, the artist known for "Panda" was taken into custody at 2:21 p.m. and was still being held without bail as of publication.

Details of the arrest have not yet been made public. Desiigner has faced a string of legal troubles in recent years: he was accused of indecent exposure on a plane in 2023, and had another run-in with authorities in South Carolina last year. This latest incident deepens one of the most troubled stretches of his career.

The artist rose to fame with "Panda," released in 2016, which topped the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also sampled on "Pt. 2" from Kanye West's album 'The Life of Pablo,' released the same year, which helped land Desiigner a deal with G.O.O.D. Music. In the years since, however, the artist has struggled to sustain his early success and has made more headlines for his growing list of legal troubles.
