Singer Lauren Bennett, known for her vocals on LMFAO's 2011 phenomenon "Party Rock Anthem," has died at age 37. Her former G.R.L. bandmates confirmed the news in a joint statement on Instagram Monday, July 6. No cause of death was given.
The statement, signed by Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen, read: "Our hearts are broken; there are no words for how special she was to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives; she will be deeply missed and always loved."
Bennett, born in England, left her biggest mark on the pop world. "Party Rock Anthem" not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 but also became one of the most recognizable electro-pop songs of the 2010s. The singer was also a founding member of the girl group G.R.L., formed by Simon Cowell in 2013.
Bennett's sudden death has deeply shaken both her collaborators and a wide fanbase; tributes quickly flooded social media. Rolling Stone reported it is awaiting further comment from the artist's representatives.
